The Copenhagen Cup has got what it takes to be a football tournament to remember. The first reason for this will be obvious upon arrival: the impressive Ballerup Idrætsby sports centre, an excellent location with many facilities. Participants as well as team leaders will spend Friday evening here at either the open house or the team leader Happy Hour. The tournament itself begins on Saturday morning with an opening ceremony, followed by the group matches. On Saturday evening all participants can have a good time at the disco, while team leaders are welcome at the official reception at Skovlunde town hall. On Sunday morning, the tournament gets into an important stage when the last preliminaries and classification matches will decide which teams will be competing in the finals. The finals are planned for the afternoon and will be followed by the prize giving ceremony. On Sunday evening there’s a free programme to visit the city centre of Copenhagen but teams are also welcome at an evening with games and music at the clubhouse and marquee.

Copenhagen Copenhagen (500.000 inhabitants) is a lively, charming and friendly city. There is plenty to see and do. Historic sights like The Royal Castle Amalienborg go hand in hand with modern architecture. Copenhagen might be the biggest city in Denmark, thanks to its relatively small size it has an intimate atmosphere.

The Little Mermaid
The Little Mermaid is the most popular tourist attraction in Denmark and one of the most photographed statues in the world. The Little Mermaid has been damaged and defaced many times but nevertheless still sits on her rock in Copenhagen harbour. The statue, which is only 1,25 metres high, is based on a story by Hans Christian Andersen about a young mermaid willing to give up her life in the sea for a human soul and the love of a human prince.

Tivoli Garden
Tivoli Garden is a popular amusement park which was founded in 1843. The park offers restaurants and stages for music and theatre but also exciting rides like the three-loop rollercoaster Demon and the Golden Tower with a fabulous view and a very fast drop. More information: www.tivoli.dk

Nyhavn
The real Copenhagen atmosphere can be found in Nyhavn (New Harbour). The neighbourhood was built in the 1670’s and is the oldest part of Copenhagen. In this popular area the streets are lined with bars and restaurants facing the picturesque harbour. When the weather is good, Nyhavn is full of life.

Shopping
With Europe’s longest pedestrian shopping street, Strøget, and the streets that surround it, Copenhagen is a shoppers paradise. Many top fashion brands are represented here, but you’ll also find more affordable clothes shops. Strøget is also a popular venue for street performers. More information: www.copenhagen.com or www.visitcopenhagen.com Skovlunde Skovlunde (12.000 inhabitants) is a small town in the Ballerup Municipality and a suburb of Copenhagen (7 miles west of downtown Copenhagen). The town was founded in the Middle Ages and consist of two parts. Gammel Skovlunde is the old part of town where you can find housing dating back to the seventeenth century. The new part of Skovlunde was the product of people relocating from Copenhagen in the 1960's and is characterized by a lot of newly build residential areas.
